10 November 1917 marks the day that Canadian troops ended the Battle of Passchendaele by capturing the ruins of the village.

On 10 November the ‘Passchendaele Ceremony’ commemorates the end of the battle of Passchendaele and all casualties. The ceremony starts with a subdued reflection at the Crest Farm Canadian Memorial, followed by a torch parade through the Canadalaan. The parade follows the path of the last hundred metres of the attack and ends at the church of Passchendaele.

After the torch parade, the Western Front Association (WFA) will inaugurate the plaque it restored at the old Passchendaele town hall. The WFA is a British organisation dedicated to the memory of all those who fought on the Western Front. It has placed four plaques at special locations: Ors, Riqueval, Passendale and Warlencourt. This year, the memorials have been completely restored.
