What makes a house a (real) home? FARO (the Flemish support centre for cultural heritage) wants to find out what makes the ordinary so special, past and present, during “Heritage Day”. The Passchendaele Museum is taking part and organizes a pop-up exhibition. Using original diaries, letters and personal objects, you will discover how soldiers from all over the world created a little piece of home at the front.

The Passchendaele Society 1917 is offering four free guided walks of 1.5 hours in the chateau grounds where they will introduce you to the Baron and his ‘home’. These continue at 10am, 11am, 1pm and 2pm.

It is also possible to take a free guided tour of Zonnebeke’s church tower. A church is a home for many in faith, happiness, sorrow, … And is also a pillar for a safe home community. During the ascent of the Church Tower, the story of Zonnebeke is the main focus. The guided tour lasts about an hour and continues at 10am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.
