Our Social Responsibility

As a historical museum, we care not only for the past, but also for the future. We recognise our social responsibility and strive to monitor and improve our impact on people, society and the environment.

Although our sustainability policy plan is still under development, this statement sets out a number of core principles:

What we value
  • Care for heritage: We preserve, safeguard and present our heritage with respect for the current generation, as well as those who came before us and those who will follow.

  • Transparency and ambition: We are working purposefully towards an integrated sustainability policy that encompasses environmental, social and economic aspects.

  • Accessibility and inclusion: Heritage is for everyone. We are committed to reducing barriers — physical, financial and communicative.

  • Awareness and education: We aim not only to share stories from the past, but also to inspire visitors to reflect on the future — from their immediate surroundings to sustainability in its broadest sense.

  • Community engagement: We actively involve our visitors, stakeholders and partners in our sustainability ambitions and listen to their ideas and feedback.

  • Heritage with an eye to the future: The museum is housed in a listed building. With respect for its historic character, we explore and implement sustainable solutions that are compatible with heritage conservation.

Where we stand today

We are currently in the process of developing our sustainability policy plan. The creation and implementation of this plan form a key objective within our 2024–2028 policy plan. Progress will be evaluated regularly and communicated both internally and externally.

Our commitment

We aspire to be a place that not only commemorates the past, but also actively contributes to a sustainable and just future. We invite everyone to think along with us and to become involved in this journey.
