| I found this site whilst researching a trip for my family in February 2009. I'm taking my 2 sons to the area, to help them understand what our forefathers did for us. I'm also going to pay a tribute to one of my relatives commemorated on the Menin Gate. | |

| I am proud to be the Great Grandson of one of these hero's of what was one of the bloodiest and hardest fought battles of WW1. They were all hero's, everyone of them. I will do what all of my family have not been able to, I will find out exactly what happened to my hero, my Great Grandfather, Thomas Kellett Private 24489, 7th Bn., King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) who died on 23 September 1917 |

| My great grandfather PRIVATE GEORGE THOMAS BOWDITCH from the 2nd Bn WELSH REGIMENT died on the 7th NOV 1917 he is now at rest at the TYNE COT MEMORIAL i am sadly the last member of the family but so proud to have the honour of his medals one day i hope to even vist his memorial i would be so greatful if someone could help me to find out any more information such as a trench map, the place where he fell or even a copy if possible of the war diaries of his unit many thanks for this website god bless x | |
